POLICE are investigating a reported serious sexual assault in central Elgin.

The High Street lane between The Royal Bank of Scotland and The Victoria Bar was closed off on Saturday night after police were called to the town centre scene.

A cordon remained in place on Sunday as investigations continued.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Enquiries are ongoing following a report that a 30-year-old woman had been seriously sexually assaulted on High Street, Elgin at around 9.10pm on Saturday, September 28."
