IT WAS a police chase of a different kind in Elgin at the weekend when the force's Moray community mascot got whiff of a car breakdown problem.

Mascot dog Chase has been out and about on foot patrol in recent weeks with the main mission to brighten the days of Elgin children stuck at home during lockdown and ensure social distancing rules are being upheld.

Ever-cheery Chase was on the case again on Saturday – this time to assist a member of the public with a push after a car breakdown.

Last week Chase was on patrol at local schools to ensure all is safe and well.

Meanwhile, north-east police division are urging youngsters to keep their key-worker themed artworks coming, with the chance to win a cuddly police dog teddy. They tweeted a picture of police dog PD Yogi with some of the entries received so far. The winning picture will be selected this Sunday, April 26. Email entries to NorthEastSocialMedia@scotland.pnn.police.uk.
