Six motorists in Elgin were stopped by the police after they passed too close to this unmarked cyclist.

.

North East Road Policing officers carried out Operation Close Pass in the town on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson said; "All Road Policing units carry out these operations, so please give cyclists space and don't be the next driver stopped."

According to a recent survey, two-thirds of people in Scotland are unaware it's an offence to overtake with less than 1.5 metres space or a car's width to spare.

If a case is brought to court, drivers can be given three points and a £100 fine, or receive a criminal conviction for more serious offences.

Operation Close Pass involved a camera being fitted onto the handlebars and back of the unmarked bike.
