A MORAY postmistress has marked 40 years of service to her local village.
Doreen Aldridge received a long service award after reaching four decades in her role at Archiestown Post Office.
Born and bred in Moray, Doreen has run the branch on Archiestown High Street since March 5, 1983.
She was presented with a Community Service Award and a bunch of flowers to celebrate her dedication to the role.
“I enjoy being at the heart of the village," Doreen said.
"I am the main source of information. If people want to know what’s going on in the village they pop in and I can tell them about events."
Doreen added that she worked hard to keep the post office open during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I know how important it was for people to have access to Post Office services and groceries," she added.
“Elgin is the nearest place for a bank and people needed to do banking and pay their bills here.
"Lots of people were doing home shopping and there were lots of returns and people sending letters and parcels to people that they could not see.”
Doreen is also involved with many local organisations.
Post Office regional manager, David Atkins, and Post Office Area Manager, Kerry Flint-Elkins, visited Doreen to present her with her Post Office 40 Years’ Long Service Award.
Ms Flint-Elkins said: “Doreen is a pillar of her community. We want to thank Doreen for her loyal and dedicated service to the people of Archiestown.
"Doreen is very knowledgeable about Post Office services from her 40 years as Postmistress.”
