A TRADITIONAL Highland Games for young competitors from across Moray and beyond has raised £6000 for charity.
Every year, Gordonstoun's Junior School hosts the popular gathering in support of good causes.
Proceeds from the 2019 event, which played out in May, have now been finalised and this year's charities – the Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children, Mikey's Line and Moray Fresh Start – have each received £2000.
Cheques was handed over by the Junior School headmaster Robert McVean and Gordonstoun Junior Highland Games chieftain Ewan MacGregor this week.
Moray Fresh Start treasurer and acting chairman James Workman thanked those involved.
He said: "So far, your generous donation has enabled us to help 55 men, 50 women and 57 children – with ages ranging from tiny babies to over-70s – settle into their new homes with essential starter packs."
The Games chieftain said it was a fantastic event to be involved in.
Mr MacGregor said: "It is great to see so many schools and other youth groups take part in the competition each year and the added bonus is that we raise significant amounts of money for local charities.
"In the last 15 years we have disbursed over £86,000 to good causes in the Moray area.”
The Junior Games – which celebrated their 30th anniversary this year – attract children from schools across the area who come together to enjoy a range of traditional events.
They are watched on by crowds who turn out to enjoy the competitions as well as refreshments, music, attractions and stalls.
