A special buffet evening at the Qismat restaurant on Wednesday, February 23 raised £1195 for the Rotary ShelterBox appeal.

The charity provides essential items and technical assistance to help vulnerable people recover and rebuild their lives after a disaster.

Family-sized tents are among the temporary measures, along with heavy duty tarpaulins and other materials to create emergency shelters.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "We know that a home is much more than bricks and mortar or tarpaulin and tent pegs. That’s why we also offer other disaster relief items that are essential for survival and can help to turn a shelter into a home."

Lawrence Fraser of Elgin Rotary paid tribute to the staff at the Qismat for their continued support with fundraising.
