A car park brawl outside a Lossiemouth pub has ended with an RAF serviceman appearing in court.

George Culley, who's stationed at the nearby air base, admitted punching several men outside the Coulard Inn on September 22.

He also pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday to pushing one of them over a car bonnet and repeatedly hitting him in the head.

The court heard the attack has left the victim with a permanent impairment and disfigurement.

It was also stated Culley's companions that day have never been identified.

Defence solicitor Robert Cruickshank said that, due to alcohol, his client's memory of the incident was poor.

Mr Cruickshank added: "There was an issue that night and he has taken steps to address that.

"He takes full responsibility for the offences and is both ashamed and embarrassed for himself, his employers and his parents who he has let down."

The solicitor stated the incident was out of character, adding that a background report prepared for the court classed Culley as being at a low risk of re-offending.

Mr Cruickshank also stated the RAF may have "some further punishment brought down on him".

Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald ordered Culley to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work for the community within the next year.
