STUDENTS from five different universities will be travelling up to RAF Lossiemouth to learn how to fly later this month.

The detachment of 15 trainee aviators, who all belong to the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde Air Squadron (UGSAS), will be staying in Moray for a fortnight.

With them they will bring three instructors and three Grob Tutor aircraft which they will fly during daylight hours.

Squadron Leader Kris Bebbington, the commanding officer of UGSAS, said: "RAF Lossiemouth provides an excellent training opportunity for our students because of the airfield facilities.

"Flying from a busy main operating base gives the students an insight into the day to day life of the RAF, and flying alongside the best fast jet operators, many of whom started their RAF careers in the UAS system, lets the students see where their journey may take them.”
