A WOMAN who completed the entirety of her UHI Moray course from 200 miles away has labelled it "phenomenal".
Anya Rae, from Ayr, did a BSc [Hons] in Integrative Healthcare – but the first time she met her lecturers was when she graduated at Elgin Town Hall.
She described her course as "really unique" and was thankful for the opportunity to study remotely due to having to look after her family.
"At the graduation, I met some people who I've only ever seen on a little box on their laptop, and I'm like: 'Oh you're real!'
"It's difficult when you've got commitments and working kids to, in my late 40s, go off and retrain in what I love – it's a big leap.
"But being online it's enabled me to do that. It has been phenomenal. I've learned so much."
Anya returned to education after 30 years and progressed through HNC and HND levels at South Ayrshire College in Ayr.
She now runs the Ayrshire Healing Centre Multidisciplinary healing centre in Maybole, which provides treatments for a range of conditions including anxiety and depression.
She added: "We have had ministers up from London, so we are changing a lot of minds I think.
"Just showing them what holistic therapies really are, because a lot of people don't really understand the benefits of them."
