AN ELGIN mum said it felt like Christmas when her family were reunited with grandma last week after an easing of lockdown rules.

There were hugs and tears when Rachel and Peter Lussier and five-month-old daughter Rose were allowed to visit granny, Rachel's mum Ann Taylor, on Friday, June 19.

Rachel said: "When I heard the news on Thursday about extended households, or social bubbles some call them, we were just super happy. It felt like Christmas was coming the following day.

"My husband, our daughter and myself went round the following day to my mum's and still felt a little strange actually being allowed to go into her house. But that hug was just amazing – there were some happy tears. We are just super happy to be reunited after three months.

"Some of our family and friends are still to meet Rose in person as Covid-19 got in the way of that. She only turned three months old when we went into lockdown.

"I know we are lucky as so many others can't wait to hug their loved ones. I just hope it won't be too much longer before we can all be reunited."

As lockdown gradually eases there will be more and more emotional reunions of families who have not seen loved ones for many weeks.

Scotland has moved into Phase 2 of the four-phase route map out of the crisis. The changes include extended households groups, under which people who live on their own or only with children under 18 can meet people from one other household indoors without social distancing measures.

We would like to share the happiness and joy of reunions. If you would like to share your reunion with us, we would love to see your photos and help spread the happiness across our newspapers and websites.

Send your photos to newsdesk@northern-scot.co.uk, with a brief description of who is being reunited and how good it feels to be together again.
