A MORAY charity has been boosted by funds raised during a performance at Elgin Town Hall.
Elgin Musical Theatre hosted five successful showings of Sunshine on Leith in March, with the Saturday matinee raising more than £500 for Riding for the Disabled.
Money raised through raffles (£505.60) and a door collection (£46.45) was handed over to the charity by Ron Duncan, Elgin Musical Theatre's chairperson.
Riding for the Disabled fundraiser Tracy Hales said: "It's a big boost because it costs £25,000 a year to run the charity.
"We have our own three ponies but others are hired from Cranloch, and we like to heavily subsidise the riders to keep it affordable.
"The performance was a sell-out and Elgin Musical Theatre gave the proceeds from the raffle and the door collection to us, which is great."
Elgin Musical Theatre's chairperson Ron Duncan explained that the money was given to Riding for the Disabled due to a special connection between the two groups.
"The proceeds of the raffle go to a different charity every year and one of our cast members, Jan Duncan, teaches at Riding for the Disabled," he said.
"So we thought it would be nice to donate to them. It was a full house every night and it was good that folk were generous and we made a decent amount."
