A PERFORMANCE exploring death and the rituals which surround it in Gaelic culture is coming to Findhorn's Universal Hall.

Endling, by Rob Heaslip Dance, takes place at the Moray venue on Wednesday, March 18 at 7.30pm.

The piece includes Gaelic singer, Gillebrìde MacMillan, who is known for his portrayal of Gwyllyn the Bard in Outlander.

Publicity manager Dave Till said: "An endling is an individual that is the last of its species. Once the endling dies, the species becomes extinct. Endling uses dance, vocals, music and design to reimagine tales of funerary and mourning rituals of Scottish and Irish Gaels, their chants, songs and customs; many on their own deathbeds and disappearing with each passing generation.

"As performed by the Rob Heaslip Company, this show brings together popular and folk culture to create a tale of collective memory and consciousness in a world tinged with acid pink, green and purple. Contemporary meets traditional, macabre meets joyful, and morbid fascination is welcomed in to the raucous world of a Gaelic wake."

The work is the first part of a trilogy entitled A Glimpse of Flesh & Blood which looks at the cycle of life. However, the starting point of this trilogy is in reverse and begins with death.
