THE staff and volunteers who run a Moray advice service are preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Moray's Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) is hosting a special party for its volunteers and staff on October 3.

The Bureau was set up in 1979 and has been part of the Moray community ever since.

It moved to Forres in the 1980s, then Batchen Street in Elgin in 1997, and finally to the current location on Moss Street, Elgin, in 2015.

While the location may have changed, the thing that never changes is its dedication to getting the people of Moray the help they need.

Manager Mary Riley said: "What Moray CAB does is make a positive difference and impact on the lives of people in our community."

Moray CAB comes under the umbrella of Citizens Advice Scotland which is 80 years old this year.

Last year, 2202 people in Moray were helped with 5853 issues.

The highest number of enquiries were about benefits, housing and legal matters, followed by debt, relationships and consumer issues.

New specialist advisers have been brought on board this year to advise on Universal Credit, EU Settlement, benefit applications and appeals, and income maximisation.

The outreach service covers Forres, Buckie, Keith, Dufftown, Tomintoul and Lossiemouth and will soon be expanding to other coastal locations.
