EXCITEMENT is building for next weekend's MacMoray Family Easter Festival in Elgin, with more than 7000 tickets sold for the event.

The all-day event, due to run from 10am until 11pm in Cooper Park on Saturday, April 16, will be the biggest in Elgin in recent memory – it is still likely to be a 7500 sell-out.

And The Northern Scot can now confirm the running order on the day – with eight bands to play sets between 12pm and 10.30pm.

Pop group S Club are set to spark the main stage into action at noon and the day will finish with a flourish as the Vengaboys are set to play at 7.30pm, followed by headliners The Boomtown Rats at 9pm.

The Animals will play at 1.15pm, Dr Feelgood at 2.30pm, Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band at 3.45pm, Toploader at 5pm and Bad Manners at 6.15pm.

On top of the music, there will be activities for children on during the day – including free face painters, clowns, caricaturists and photo opportunities with Disney characters.

There will be a selection of 35 to 50 food, drink and activity stalls in place at the park, with activities running throughout the day.

Organiser Andy Macdonald confirmed there are still a few hundred tickets left for sale.

He said: "We are well on our way to a sell out. Tickets have been selling quickly, but folk can still get theirs just now."

Mr Macdonald also confirmed that visitors will not be permitted to take their own alcohol, or dogs, but can grab a wristband and leave after getting through the gates.

The venue will begin being built four days before the event on Tuesday, April 12.
