RURAL communities in Moray have been urged to be on their guard for people acting suspiciously.

The warning issued by Grampian Police follows reports of two thefts in the Lossiemouth area.

Two farms were targeted by thieves who made off with agricultural equipment.

Tools and equipment were stolen from a storage unit at a farm.

And a quantity of power tools, hand tools and diesel were stolen from a tractor at a neighbouring farm.

Both incidents occurred overnight between Monday, September 6 and Tuesday, September 7.

Investigating Officer, Constable Paul Thompson said: "I would ask people in our rural communities to be aware of unfamiliar vehicles and persons acting suspiciously and to report their concerns to the Police."

Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
