AN initiative born just four days ago is looking to throw a lifeline to a national institution.

.

Born out of a desperate and unprecedented situation, the pub2me.com website has gone live earlier today.

Its creators aim to connect thousands of pubs with millions of customers who wish to enjoy pub drinks and food at home.

Each participating pub will display their menu card, with a selection of drinks and food options they are able to offer for collection and possibly delivery.

The hope is that thousands of pubs and millions of pub lovers will register.

One of the creators of Pub2me.com is Chris Hyde who said: "We are currently discussing government support, celebrity support via social media and sponsorship from major companies.

"It has not been the best of times for pubs over the past few years, but this latest threat cannot be allowed to bring down such an essential and treasured part of our social lives."

Chris is set to appear on the Chris Evans breakfast show on Virgin Radio this Wednesday.

Pub2me.com is also in discussion with the comedian Al Murray, the creator of the Pub Landlord character.
