THE Scottish Government is investing nearly a quarter of a million pounds to support Moray communities in responding to the climate and nature emergency.

A total of £234,444 will go to setting up a new climate action hub locally, which will be part of a network of regional climate hubs set up across Scotland.

This hub will be run by tsiMORAY, which was influential in Moray gaining this grant with the support of the Moray Climate Assembly.

Fabio Villani, from tsiMORAY's leadership team, said: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to provide focused support to community-led climate action in Moray.

“This investment from the Scottish Government will enable Moray communities to build on our strengths and respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities facing us.

“The Moray hub will provide funding for communities to learn from each other and to develop local climate and nature-focused projects, as well as providing specialist support when needed.”

The regional hubs have been set up to support communities across Scotland and will provide a coordinated and coherent approach to ensuring that communities are informed, connected, engaged and empowered to develop and implement local solutions to create low-carbon resilient places.

The hub itself supports the delivery of the Scottish Climate Change Plan, Scottish Climate Change Adaption Programme and Just Transition commitments.

There is also hope that the hub will inspire members of the public to get involved and engage directly with climate change.

The investment will also fund access to specialist advisors, as well as commission additional support and knowledge exchanges for project development between community groups with different areas of expertise.

Any relevant information will be published on tsiMORAY’s website. To contact the hub email climateaction@tsimoray.org.uk or calling tsiMORAY on 01343 541713.
