Scottish icon Aly Bain is set to appear on Keith Community Radio next week.

The Shetland fiddler will be talking about his life to presenter Sheila MacDonald this coming Monday, as well as playing some of his favourite music.

Sheila said: "I'm thrilled Aly is taking time out of his busy schedule to join me on the show. I'm looking forward to hearing about his background growing up in Lerwick and how he rose to become Scotland’s national treasure in traditional music."

Born in 1946, Aly began playing the fiddle at the age of eleven.

In his early 20s he headed to mainland Scotland to make Edinburgh his home and musical base.

His dramatic playing, superb tone and technical ability brought him early recognition, and he went on to become one of the leading lights of the folk revival.

Aly Bain will be on the Getting To Know You show on Monday, February 19 at 8pm.

Listeners can tune in to Keith Community Radio across Moray on 107.7FM or online at www.kcr.fm

Fans will have a chance to hear Aly Bain play alongside Phil Cunningham at the Keith TMSA Festival on May 18 in the Longmore Community Hall.
