DINERS are being urged to make the most of the extra day in February to support a children’s hospital appeal.

Scribbles Pizza House in Elgin is hosting a special ‘dine and donate’ day on Wednesday, February 29.

From all food orders taken during the day, owner Faith Houlding will donate 20% of takings to the Moray Friends of ARCHIE appeal.

The initiative aims to raise in excess of £100,000 for the children’s ward at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.

Mrs Houlding is a member of the fund-raising committee and thought the bonus of a leap year day was too good an opportunity to miss.

"It is an extra day’s business that I wouldn’t normally have, so I thought it would be a great idea to try and raise some money for the appeal," she said.

Special ‘dine and donate’ flyers have been circulated ahead of the event and one is printed in ‘The Scot’.

Anyone producing the special leaflet when they pay for their food at Scribbles will be entered into a prize draw.

The Bowl 2000 fun centre in Elgin is hosting a 10-hour sponsored bowlathon on Sunday, March 18, from 11am to 9pm. Teams of up to six are encouraged to take part and raise money for the appeal.

Sponsor forms and entries are available from Bowl 2000 or the ‘Northern Scot’.

On Saturday, April 7, Moray Titans Rugby League Club will be doing a sponsored car pull in the centre of Elgin. That will coincide with another teddy bear tombola by the Moray Friends of ARCHIE group as part of an Elgin BID East Family Fun Day on the Plainstones.

Any donations of teddies can be made to the ‘Northern Scot’.

And on Friday, May 25, the friends group will host a charity ball at the Mansefield Hotel in Elgin.
