PUPILS from Elgin's Seafield Primary School received a special visitor, when Poppyscotland’s bus called Bud pulled into the school.

Pupils at Seafield enjoyed learning more about the charity during their visit.
Pupils at Seafield enjoyed learning more about the charity during their visit.

Pupils from four classes were invited on board the 18-tonne truck, which is travelling Scotland as part of the charity’s learning work.

The charity provides support to former and serving armed forces personnel, and their families and the interactive mobile museum helps school pupils learn more about their work.

The visit by its interactive mobile museum was organised by Seafield’s Military Families’ Pupil Support Assistants, Emma Connors and Catrina Taylor, who support the children of armed forces personnel attending the school.

The children listened to stories, made paper poppies, and learned what the charity has been doing to support service personnel, veterans, and their families since 1921, following the Great War.

Morven Snodgrass, Head Teacher at Seafield Primary School, said Bud the bus was a very welcome visitor. She said: “The pupils clearly learned a great deal on board Bud and this was a great interactive opportunity. With a high percentage of forces families attending the school, we provide a wide range of supports, but this was a great opportunity for all learners to get further insight into what that means for their service families’ peers and also for veterans in our community.

"We’re very grateful to Poppyscotland for including Seafield Primary on its travels, it’s a visit that won’t be forgotten.”
