MORAY'S MSP has been told that "serious consideration" is being put into relocating the Blackhillock 2 Substation outside Keith.

SNP MSP Richard Lochhead had a meeting with SSEN Transmission at the beginning of October and received a brief update on plans for the substation.

Mr Lochhead said he had been assured that the development team had "taken on board the strength of feeling" expressed by local residents against their original preferred location, between Banff or Drum Road.

He added that they are, therefore, considering alternative sites and analysing feedback received during the consultation period.

“I am pleased to hear that SSEN Transmission are giving serious consideration to siting the new substation in a different location to the previous preferred site," Mr Lochhead said.

"This was felt to be too close to local homes, schools and amenities. I look forward to a further update on proposals in the coming weeks.”

A further public consultation is expected to take place at the start of 2024.
