Workshop to spotlight online safety for Moray kids stepping up to secondary school

MORAY parents whose children who will be going to secondary school after the summer are being invited to a virtual session on online safety.

A s part of the 'Moray - Let's chat online safety' campaign, Moray Child Protection Committee are hosting an online session for parents and carers to offer tips and advice on keeping children and young people safe online.

Children moving to secondary school may change the way they use their online space. This could be a great way for them to learn new skills but it can also leave them open to more risk.

Increased accessibility of the internet results in more opportunities for engagement in risky online behaviours. Participating in these behaviours could result in children being exposed to upsetting or distressing content online and potentially other serious forms of victimisation.

This session is aimed at parents and carers with children aged 10-14 but there will be tips and advice covering screen time, peer pressure, sexting, cyberbullying and sextortion which would be beneficial to others outside these ages so all are welcome.

The workshop is due to be held on Wednesday, May 29 between 12 noon and 1pm. Attendance is free although a place has to be booked via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/
