A Rothes sex offender has been jailed for two years.

Kevin Enticknap will also be placed under supervision for a further two years on his eventual release from prison because he is considered a danger to the community.

The 46-year-old, who formerly lived on Provost Christie Drive, was originally jailed for four years back in 2015 at Elgin Sheriff Court after admitting a total of nine sex offences.

However he was released early on April 3, 2017 and was instead being monitored by the Police Scotland Offender Management Unit.

Today at Inverness Sheriff Court he admitted downloading 537 indecent images and two videos of children engaged in sexual activity and having sex with adults and animals.

These offence occurred at his home between March 16, 2019 and November 5, 2019.

The court was told that after Enticknap was released from prison his contact with children was carefully regulated.

In addition, he was only allowed to use the internet from his local library in order to search for jobs.

Enticknap informed the social work department and police that he had a laptop but claimed that it had no internet access.

However on December 10, 2019, when police went to check on him, they found other electronic devices including the laptop which had indecent images stored upon it.

A search of the house revealed more images on a memory card and on a tablet which he had hidden inside a deep fat fryer.

As a result Enticknap was recalled to prison to serve out the remainder of his original sentence.

Defence solicitor Stephen Carty told Sheriff Gary Aitken that there was an acceptance that a custodial sentence was inevitable.

Mr Carty added: "He accepts he has a problem and unless he gets to grips with it he will spend his adult life in and out of prison."

Enticknap was warned that if he did not comply with supervision on his next release, he would be returned to prison for the extended two years.

Sheriff Aitken said: "You will be supervised and supported on your release in the hope that you will never do this again and also to prevent serious harm to the community."

Enticknap was also placed on the Sex Offender's Register indefinitely.
