THIS freak egg was discovered this morning inside a hen house in Moray.

The egg was laid by one of 20 hens belonging to Jake Paterson who lives in Robertson Road, Lhanbryde.

Jake said: "I've been keeping birds for the past eight years. During that time I've seen tens of thousands of eggs, but I've never seen one like this.

"I've got to say it's exceptional."

The egg is not the first unusual discovery that the retired gardener has made.

Back in January last year, Jake uncovered an180-million year-old fossil – dactylioceras tenuicostatum – near the foot of the Ladyhill monument in Elgin.
