THE Boomtown Rats lead singer Sir Bob Geldof lauded the MacMoray festival and commented that Elgin was a "lovely town" after Saturday's show.
Speaking exclusively after the show, the frontman said: "I really like to get a sense of the place I'm playing when I arrive and I walked around town this afternoon.
"The people here are great. Because it's a local event, people have been generally more friendly and it's been really exciting to be on stage again."
The festival's headline act took to the stage at 9:30pm to a cheering crowd and played an energetic hour-long set filled with new and beloved songs from their 40-year career.
Before the gig, Sir Bob stopped at Elgin Farmers Market before having some "fantastic food" at The Drouthy Cobbler.
He added: “I had a great day, it is a lovely town. All the people I chatted to were very nice. It’s good to be playing again after the pandemic. I love doing this. Days like this reaffirm the choice I made when I was a kid – that this is what I’d do."
