Six weeks of maintenance work upon a bridge on the A96 between Huntly and Inverurie is set to begin on Sunday.

Workmen will resume fixing Carden Bridge near Oyne after the project was temporarily paused in March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the project.

Andy Thompson from BEAR Scotland said: “This essential maintenance work will allow our teams to complete the repairs required on the A96 Carden Bridge.

"At this difficult time the safety of our employees and our supply chain remains a top priority during the essential project.

"All personnel will be subject to strict physical distancing protocols in line with Government guidance to ensure they are kept safe. Thorough risk assessments have been developed to ensure all staff remain safe.

"Our teams will do all they can to ensure that project is completed as quickly and as safely as possible."
