LAW firm Harper Macleod has made its first major addition in Elgin following its acquisition of local firm Wink & Mackenzie.

Peter McLuckie, formerly legal and compliance director at Baxters Food Group, has been named as a senior associate.

A corporate lawyer, he has been an in-house adviser at the highest levels of industry and most recently practiced at Inverness firm Munro & Noble.

Chris Kerr, lead partner of Harper Macleod's Highlands and Islands operation, said: "Bringing in someone of Peter's calibre is a great boost to our burgeoning practice in Moray.

"When we moved to the area in September we made it clear that we were committed to extending the full Harper Macleod offering of commercial, rural and personal legal services to clients in Moray, and were also committed to growing our team on the ground."

Mr McLuckie, who has experience of advising on business sales and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance/professional regulation, company secretarial practice and corporate governance, said he was delighted to take up the post.

He said: "I know the firm well and have been impressed by its growth and ambition over a number of years. When I saw it make the move to Moray it seemed like the perfect opportunity to become part of that growth.

"Chris and the team have a great practice and client base already, and I hope to help them build that further over the coming years."

Harper Macleod, which now incorporates Wink & Mackenzie in Elgin, also has offices in Inverness, Lerwick, Thurso, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
