The Church's impressive celebration events took place last weekend, with congregants past and present attending.

The celebrations began with a concert on the evening of Friday, June 9 where attendees were delighted by music from former ministers Rev Rolf Billes and Rev Attie van Wyk, along with a performance from the Salute’ choir, who showed their versatility and harmonies with several contrasting pieces.

The Open Church event the following day drew a large and enthusiastic crowd and proved to be a delightful trip down memory lane, as numerous wedding photos of couples who had tied the knot in the Church were proudly displayed.

Visitors were also able to enjoy looking at scrapbooks from over the years and many also left with a copy of Meg Anderson’s History of the Parish in her lifetime.

Sunday also offered the opportunity for inspiration and reunion with former minsters joining present minister Rev Dr Breda Ludik in a special Sunday service to mark the anniversary.

Rev. Attie van Wyk, who had skillfully accompanied the hymns on the organ throughout the service, concluded the ceremony by focusing on the theme of everlasting friendship before pronouncing the benediction.

The Church was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements, and tea and cakes, as well as soup and bread were served to the large amount of locals and visitors who were welcomed over the weekend.

Committee member Marlene Hay said: "There was a happy and joyous atmosphere throughout the entire celebration, it really made the planning and hard work by the large group of volunteers very worthwhile."
