MORAY Council has revised Elgin Library's opening hours on Fridays.

Elgin Library's opening hours have been revised.

The library will now close at 5pm on Fridays starting from February 9 when previously it had stayed open until 8pm.

The council says that the decision has been made due to staffing vacancies as well as Friday evenings experiencing a lower footfall than other evenings.

However, opening hours on other days are not affected and the change will not impact existing staff.

Councillor Kathleen Robertson, Leader of Moray Council, said the change of hours is a "sensible response" to current circumstances.

She said: "The lower footfall on a Friday evening makes it the most obvious decision to reduce hours at this time.

"Closing earlier on Fridays won’t impact existing staff, who will have their hours redistributed throughout the week."
