Stagecoach has announced a rise in fare prices across its services in the north-east covering Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Stagecoach are set to increase fares across the north-east.

The rises come as the company faces increasing scrutiny over service provision, particularly in the Buchan area.

From Sunday, March 31 prices of Single, DayReturn, DayRider, Flexi 5, 7 day and 4 week MegaRider, and MegaRiderXtra tickets will increase with single fares increasing by around 7 per cent.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: “We are implementing a fares revision on March 31 which will impact the price of all of our bus fares and tickets.

“Like other businesses, industries and households, we are faced with increasing operational costs above inflation, including staff costs, vehicle parts, maintenance, insurance and utilities.

“An annual increase to our fares and tickets is therefore necessary to address these increasing costs.

An A96 adult Day Rider ticket will increase from £14.50 to £15.40 while the 7 Day MegaRider increases from £42.40 to £45.00.

Adult 7 Day MegaRider Elgin Commuter rises from £24.20 to £25.70.

For the Adult 28 Day MegaRider passes, new costs will see the A96 Elgin-Inverness rise to £166.60, Aberdeen Commuter £115.40, Banff & Buchan £128.10, Elgin £45.00 and Elgin Commuter to £96.20.
