LOCAL rescued dogs Freeda and Charlie Grant are setting an example to us all – by staying safe at home.

One-year-old Freeda and two-year-old Charlie moved to a better life in New Elgin from Spain, after local dogs' champion Meg Grant had them transported to Scotland.

Meg is a shop assistant who in her spare time raises funds to rescue dogs.

Nicknamed Mama Doolittle for her amazing support of pets and strays, for more than 30 years she has also helped people struggling to pay vets' bills.

In May last year she earned the Fundraiser of the Year 2019 title at the Moray and Banffshire Heroes awards.

Meg said: "The dogs had a horrendous life in Spain.

"Charlie was chained and was skin and bone. Freeda was left abandoned in a shed and she was a rattle of bones."

It's safe to say, however, they have now found their forever home with Meg.
