TRAINS between Aberdeen and Inverness have been cancelled on Thursday morning following warnings about the upcoming Storm Caroline.

The wind speed is expected to reach up to 90mph, with the worst hitting the North East, as well as North and the Western Isles.

Transport Scotland have also issued warnings stating that bridges might also face closure.

Scotrail has issued a statement stating that all services between Inverness and Aberdeen, Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh, and Glasgow and Oban/Fort William/Mallaig are cancelled.

A safety check will be issued to make a decision of when the lines will reopen.

Storm Caroline has resulted in Yellow Warning over the whole of the North of Scotland and is expected to hit between Thursday and Friday.
