PEOPLE living in Keith and Strathisla who are finding it difficult to make ends meet due to the coronavirus pandemic are being encouraged to seek a helping hand.

Keith Covid 19 volunteers have made up household packs with basic necessities for anyone who may have seen their income hit or are facing other challenges resulting from lockdown.

The Longmore Hall is the base for the Keith Covid-19 group.

The packs contain a small selection of cupboard essentials, cleaning items and bathroom toiletries. Locally made reuseable face coverings are also available free of charge.

Covid volunteer Esther Green said: “We know that people are being hard hit due to reduced working hours, being placed on furlough, or being made redundant. Indications are that redundancies are set to rise in August, when changes to the Government’s job retention scheme kick in.

"We want to continue to look after people living in our community during these difficult times.

“We’re here to provide a little extra support and would encourage anyone in need of some assistance to drop by.

“As well as small household packs, we have reusable fabric face coverings that have been handmade locally and which are machine washable so can be reused time and time again, making them more sustainable than the single use disposables.”

Visit the Longmore Hall on Wednesdays from 1.30-2pm or Fridays from 6.30-7pm to access support.
