STUDENTS have given the boat hut at Elgin's Cooper Park pond a facelift.

And they are now looking at the possibility of returning boats to the community pond as well as the creation of a coffee hut.

The exterior of the nearby cricket pavilion was also cleaned and repainted by the Skills for Choice Group at Moray College UHI.

That came after the group revamped the interior of the popular community sports facility during the Autumn term.

Completed as part of a project management module, it saw the students research, plan, liaise and carry out the work.

Each took on a specific role, from planning and correspondence to management and PR.

Training and development officer Alan Donnelly and the team thanked the Bell Group for the donation of paint and materials, as well as B&Q, William Wilson and Linkwood College for materials and construction support.

Mr Donnelly said: "We hope to have new boats for Phase 2 of the project and potential coffee/refreshments boat hut up-and-running for July 2019."
