The Burning of the Clavie night in Burghead.

The ceremonial festive, which dates back to Pictish Times, marks the January 11 as the ancient Scottish tradition of Hogmanay.

The large crowds gathered around as the Clavie was lit and then carried around the village before being placed on top of the Doorie Hill for spectators to see the Clavie burn.

Dan Ralph, who is the Clavie King, celebrates in another successful year, even with the fact that there is no wind to keep the flame burning.

"It was a great night considering the weather with no wind but it was a dry wind, it went spectacular considering!" he said.
