A NEW tariff for use of Moray Council-operated electric vehicle charging points has been introduced.

The tariffs aim to support the council in recovering operational costs and maintaining charging points.

The tariff is 56p/kWh for rapid charge points and 43p/kWh for fast charge points, with users required to pay a minimum fee of £1.

Moray Council operates several electric vehicle charging points throughout the area.

No overstay fee applies for slow/fast chargers although an overstay fee of £10 applies after 70 minutes for rapid chargers.

Chair of the economic, development and infrastructure services committee, councillor Marc Macrae (Conservative, Fochabers Lhanbryde), said: “The new tariffs mean the council no longer absorbs the cost of the rising demand for electric vehicle charging.

"We will continue to monitor price changes, and should electricity prices fluctuate, charges may be amended to reflect this.”
