Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were charged in connection with multiple incidents in the New Elgin area, which all took place between Friday, November 24, 2023, and Friday, January 5, 2024.

This includes one that saw two caravans set on fire at Thornhill Playing Fields on Thursday, January 4. Police and the fire brigade were alerted to the incident after 8pm. Both caravans were badly damaged.

Constable Donald Matheson, Elgin Police Office, said: “I’d like to thank the local community for their support with our enquiries.

“Police Scotland will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in our area, whilst also educating on the dangers and consequences.

“Anyone with concerns about criminality in their area can speak to officers, call 101, or, in the case of emergency, 999.”
