The store will be exclusively for health service staff from 9-10am on Sunday, March 22.

The shop will not open to the general public until 10am.

In a notice to customers, management said: "We will have a dedicated shopping hour for NHS workers between 9am and 10am on Sunday morning as a thank you for all the fantastic work that you are doing."

All staff have to do is show their NHS identification.

Many stores have also brought in special shopping times for older people in a bid to clamp down on some of the worst excesses of panic buying.

Social media has been awash with pictures of empty shelves, with supermarket staff unable to keep up with the pace at which goods have been flying off the shelves.

Many stores have now introduced a limit on essential items such as bread, milk, cleaning products and toilet roll.
