The Food Warehouse, which is owned by Iceland, is at the retail park on Edgar Road.

More than £750,000 has been invested in the 8,489 sq ft supermarket, creating 30 jobs.

It was originally intended to open in March.

Store manager Michael Whaite said: "Our opening day has been a great success and the whole team has really enjoyed meeting people from our local community.

"I am really proud of the whole team for donating to the NHS during this time as well."

Donations have been given to Dr Gray's and Abbeyvale Nursing Home.

Opening hours are 8am-8pm, with the first hour dedicated to NHS staff on every day except Sunday.
