Guest speaker at their most recent meeting was Ewen Brindle who entertained the Rural meeting with his piping skills.

Mr Brindle, who is acting Head of Music at Buckie Community High School, has been playing the pipes for 14 years, firstly as a young lad with Strathisla Pipe Band, then the Cadets and the Gordon Highlanders Pipe Band.

He is now a member of the Buchan Peterson Pipe Band who won the Grade 2 World Championships earlier this year.

While Mr Brindle was catching his breath between tunes he talked about his piping career taking him all over the world. Even when he explained how temperamental the bagpipes can be, especially with the heat or cold affecting the tuning, it was obvious he still loves them.

Emma Marandola thanked Mr Brindle for a thoroughly entertaining evening.

The competition results were: Flower of the month – 1. Marian Stringer, 2. Sarah Carrington; Tartan accessory – 1. Marian Stringer, 2. Susan Clarke.

The Christmas Craft Fayre is on Sunday, November 27 and is open to the public from 10am to 4pm. There will be lots of craft stalls and homebaking for sale as well as pancake teas and a raffle.

The final meeting for the year will be on Tuesday 13th December at 7.30pm in Arradoul hall where members will get hands on with Christmas Crafts.
