Three coronavirus-related deaths within two weeks in Moray as 436 new cases are confirmed

THREE coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed in Moray in the last two weeks, taking the area's death toll from the virus to 60.

All three people who died tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days.

Of the 60 to have died due to coronavirus, 47 tested positive for virus and passed away within 28 days, while 13 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Meanwhile, 436 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 7906.

Official figures do not state whether any of the cases in the area involve the Omicron variant.

This is an increase on the 362 people who tested positive for the virus in the area last week.

Across the last week, 849 people tested negative for Covid-19 in Moray.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 61,029 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between December 6 and December 12.

Elgin was again the worst-hit town in Moray, with a total of 82 cases – down on the 104 recorded previously.

Meanwhile, there were 38 cases in Forres – up from 11 last week – and 34 in Buckie.

Lossiemouth confirmed 30 cases, with eight in Keith and Fife Keith.

The other cases are as follows:

  • Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry: 40
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 35
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: 27
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 22
  • Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 23
  • North Speyside: 13
  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 13
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: 12
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: Nine
  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: Seven
  • Rural Keith and Strathisla: Five

The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 70,516. This accounts for 83.8 per cent of the eligible population.

The number to have received one dose is 77,266 – or 91.9 per cent of those eligible.

In total, 43,575 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab.

Almost 5500 people received the booster this week, with 51.8 per cent of the eligible population now triple jabbed.
