LOCAL snappers are being urged to get their entries in this week for a Moray-founded firm’s northern photography contest.

Only one week remains to submit entries for Johnston Carmichael’s competition as the closing date of Friday, October 25, approaches.

The accountancy and business advisory firm launched its "Capture the Moment" competition in September, encouraging photographers of all abilities to capture and interpret the essence of one of the business's key sectors, including agriculture, food and drink, and construction.

The competition celebrates the firm’s long-established relationship with the Moray and Highland regions. The firm was founded in Moray more than 80 years ago before expanding into the Highlands, and this year is celebrating 25 years in its current Elgin office.

The competition is open to amateurs and professionals, and photographs taken by both camera or smartphone will be accepted.

Winners in each of the categories will receive a £250 cash prize and will have their work proudly displayed in the Johnston Carmichael offices.

A judging panel of local photographers, journalists and artists, including broadcaster Nicky Marr, as well as Grenville Johnston, the Lord Lieutenant of Moray, and grandson of Bill Johnston, a co-founder of Johnston Carmichael, will assess entries on both creative and technical merits.

Scott Jeffrey, audit partner, said: "With only one week until entries close, the competition is truly hotting up. We are really looking forward to viewing every entry and seeing how the public interpret each of our sectors. I think the judges will have a tough time next week.

"This competition is perfect for anyone who enjoys simply taking a beautiful shot with their smartphone or staging a more professional photoshoot to get the perfect image, so if you are thinking about getting involved, enter before it’s too late."
