Tyler McNeill will be clapping for two minutes at 8pm tonight outside his family home in Elgin.

The former Seafield Primary pupil explained: "Lots of little kids don't really understand about social distancing, and about why they can't play out with their friends.

"In the same way, there are lots of old people in care homes who don't understand why their families are no longer coming to visit them.

"I think joining in with a clap tonight will help show that people are thinking about them."

Tyler's time at Seafield Primary was cut abruptly short due to the lockdown, however he's eagar to begin at Elgin Academy after the summer.

Joining him on the doorstep tonight will be his little brothers Baille (6) and Kayden (4) – if it's not past their bedtimes.

Tyler said: "I have two older brothers as well who no longer live at home.

"I also have two little nieces who I really want to see again.

"They are growing up really fast and I'm missing it."

So how did he feel about the Thursday night Clap for Carers?

Tyler said: "I just loved it. It was a chance to interact with people.

"It was also a way of letting the NHS staff and the key workers that everyone was looking out for them.

"I think it made them happy – and I like making people happy."
