University of the Highlands and Islands elects Dr Fiona McLean as new rector

Dr Fiona McLean has been elected as the University of the Highlands and Islands' sixth rector.

.

A passionate advocate for education in communities, she was selected by staff, students and community representatives.

Speaking about her new three-year role, Dr McLean said: "I am passionate about the Highlands and Islands and our university partnership.

"I will act as an ambassador for the university and will commit my time, energy and enthusiasm to support the university's mission."

Professor Todd Walker, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the university, said: "Fiona will bring enthusiasm, skill and commitment to the job."
