A RURAL Speyside communications agency has trumped UK-wide competition to take the title of Small Consultancy of the Year.

The Public Relations and Communications Association's "Dare" Awards win this week is the latest accolade in a big year for Aberlour-based SPEY.

The firm was established in 2016, "a stone’s throw away from more world-class brands than anywhere else in Scotland".

The agency says its focus is on retaining and attracting talent in an economically fragile area, and it has brought creative industry jobs which didn’t exist before in PR, marketing, digital and design.

Managing director and founder Jennifer Robertson said: "In this day and age even blue-chip clients are turning away from large global conglomerates in search of brilliant ideas from small and nimble creative communications agencies that can do a bit of everything.

"Our beautiful Highland setting gives us a much better insight into our clients’ businesses and a unique clarity of thought that has eluded most agencies.

"We are thrilled that the value of our approach and the quality of our work has been recognised with this UK award."

SPEY won best new agency 2018 in Scotland and the UK and has grown to a team of nine employees, opening a second office in Leith this year.
