DYW Moray has presented its monthly Moray Employer Recognition Award to a woman who has supported a number of local youngsters into work.

In her role as CEO of Visit Moray Speyside – and her previous job with Elgin BID – Gemma Cruickshank has championed the work of DYW Moray and spent a number of hours working with young people.

Aimee Stephen, DYW Moray's Business Liaison, was "delighted" to present the award to Gemma, has been working with the group since 2020.

"Gemma has always been an advocate for shouting about the work we do at DYW Moray," Aimee said.

"As a result, she has referred many employers to the regional group who are now also supporting young people.

"More recently, Gemma and the Visit Moray Speyside team have supported a number of young people through providing work experience opportunities and supporting a number of schools with mock interviews.

"They have also helped many BID members by sign posting them to the services that DYW provide to support their business.

"At DYW Moray, we understand the pressures that businesses are facing and are still so grateful for all the employers like Gemma who continue to support local young people.”

The Moray Employer Recognition Award recognises employers who go above and beyond to inspire our Moray young people to better prepare them for the world of work.

Gemma Cruickshank said: “Receiving the Recognition of the Month Certificate from DYW Moray was a great honour in recognising the work that Visit Moray Speyside does to support the young people within our region.

"We are pleased to work with DYW Moray and really see the value in the services that they provide to young people and businesses through matching apprentices to vacancies and showcasing the opportunities of work there is in the region and encouraging young people to build a career in Moray.

"It is important to showcase what the region has to offer to the younger generation, give employers and students the chance to meet face-to-face and learn what each industry is looking.

"It's also important to learn what young people are looking for and what career path they wish to take and DYW Moray offers just that.”
