A PAIR of Moray students are warming up their vocal chords ahead of two choral performances in their home area.

Lossiemouth's Erin Ralph and Elgin's Ross Cumming sing with the Aberdeen Vocal Ensemble (AVE), which is embarking on a tour of Scotland.

That includes performances at Pluscarden Abbey and in Elgin's St Columba’s South Church.

The Ensemble is a 15-voice chamber group, comprised of recent music graduates and experienced singers in and around Aberdeen.

Conducted and directed by Sam Paul, the August tour of Scotland will showcase some of the group's favourite pieces.

The Moray performances take place on Monday, August 5, starting with a concert at Pluscarden Abbey at 4pm.

That's followed by an evening concert at St Columba's South Church, accessed off Duff Avenue or Moss Street, at 7.30pm.

Both are free to attend free to attend with donations welcome at the end.

Erin, who attended Lossiemouth High School, is currently in second year studying the BMus course at Aberdeen University, while Ross, who went to Elgin Academy, is in his final year and has been accepted into the Conservatoire in Manchester, The Royal Northern College of Music, for a vocal masters in opera.

Last Christmas, the Moray friends were given the honour of singing with Aberdeen University’s Chapel Choir as it performed as part of BBC Scotland's annual Christmas Eve celebration, which was broadcast from Dundee’s St Paul’s Cathedral and hosted by Sally Magnusson.
