VOLUNTEERS were at the heart of the success of Seafest in Lossiemouth.

And chairwoman Donna Milne says more are needed if the 2023 event is to be just as successful.

Donna thanked the public who turned out in force to support the packed programme of events during the festival.

And she reflected on the nine day celebration of Lossiemouth’s marine heritage and traditions with pride and satisfaction.

This was one of the biggest programmes ever attempted by the organisers Lossiemouth Community Development Trust.

And their efforts paid off with big attendances across the festival, most notably at family-focussed events.

“It was a really busy nine days and everything was well attended,” said Donna.

“I think people were just glad to be back to normal after Covid.

“People seemed to enjoy taking their kids.

“Family night was full to capacity on the Tuesday. The DJ included games for the kids and the adults.

“The sand castle competition was very busy and it was a lovely day.”

The festival centred around a large marquee in Station Park, with most of the events staged in and around the park, including a summer fair on Saturday, August 13.

“It was busy right to the end of the day and I think all the stall holders made money.

“The beer festival on Saturday night was new and run by Lossiemouth FC, and it was well attended.”

Donna also had special praise for volunteer Claire Main who stepped in to run the cocktail night after the original team behind it went down with Covid.
Crucial for Seafest 2023 is to get more volunteers.

If you are keen to sign up you can message the team through the Seafest Facebook page.
