Despite a stormy forecast, The Friendly Games managed to avoid any major downpours – with the occasional rain failing to dampen the spirits of the crowd.

Games Chairman Ian Wilson said: "It has been a great day, considering the weather forecast. We have been really lucky, with just a couple of heavy showers. The attendance has been fantastic, and everything seems to be going smoothly. Everybody's happy."

The milestone 180th anniversary added an extra touch of significance to this year's event, and Games organisers were thrilled with the overall success.

Mr Wilson said: "It's a big achievement to reach 180 years, and everything is going well. We can't complain and we have even had some new faces this year. Normally, when we set up on a Thursday night, it's the same six faces. But this year, there were about 20 members, including some of the younger ones. It's great to see everyone getting involved and happy."
