After a spate of weather warnings for rain over the last few days, which have led to travel disruption, the UK's fastest-flowing river began to pour into the Alice Littler Memorial Park today (October 8).

Sections of the riverside path spanning the length of the park, adjacent to the Speyside Way, were cut off by the rising waters.

Sepa flood warnings were in place at: Rothes; between Grantown and Aberlour; Spey Viaduct to Spey Bay; Boat O'Brig to Spey Viaduct; Aberlour, Craigellachie and Dandaleith; and Dallas to Doual Bridge.

A severe flood warning was also in force for between Aviemore and Dalfaber.

Aberlour residents took to a local Facebook group to share their reactions to the high water levels.

One resident said: "So sad, for the second time in a year."

"Wow, I know we were saying we needed some rain but, ehm, not this much," said another.
